Baseball Game Preview: Springville Tigers vs. St. Clair County Fighting Saints

Springville is on a 15-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while St. Clair County is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Springville Tigers will host the St. Clair County Fighting Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Springville knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully St. Clair County likes a good challenge.

Springville barely beat Moody the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Springville never let Moody get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

The result came thanks to Kade Willis's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grant Martinez was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Jake Conner was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Meanwhile, St. Clair County lost 11-1 to Springville on Tuesday. The Fighting Saints haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Springville's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for St. Clair County, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Everything went Springville's way against St. Clair County in their previous matchup on Tuesday, as Springville made off with an 11-1 victory. Will Springville repeat their success, or does St. Clair County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
