Soccer Recap: Waverly Comes Up Short

Waverly was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against the Portland Raiders, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, Waverly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 339th, while Portland are ranked 157th).

Waverly's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Portland, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Waverly is set to take on their familiar foe East Lansing at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Portland will square off against rival Eaton Rapids at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
