Volleyball Game Preview: San Marcos Royals vs. Santa Barbara Dons

The San Marcos Royals will venture away from home to square off against the Santa Barbara Dons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Marcos will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Friday, San Marcos got the win against San Luis Obispo by a conclusive 3-0.

While San Marcos won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-16.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Santa Barbara and Dos Pueblos had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Dons took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers last Thursday. The Dons have struggled against the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Dos Pueblos scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-18, 24-26, 25-22, 25-22.

Santa Barbara's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for San Marcos, they pushed their record up to 21-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

San Marcos might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Santa Barbara in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Royals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
