Temple City had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-17-1 to make it seven. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-2 defeat on Monday.
As for La Canada, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.
For La Canada's part, Scott Burns looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Burns has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Finn Flowerhogan was excellent, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Park, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with two runs.
