Recap: Hagerstown Tigers vs. Monroe Central Golden Bears
The Hagerstown Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 63-62 to Monroe Central. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hagerstown in their matchups with Monroe Central: they've now lost four in a row.
Hagerstown lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaac Schmitz, who scored 14 points along with six assists and four steals. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Kaagen Kendall, who scored 15 points.
Hagerstown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Monroe Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season.
Hagerstown will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Monroe Central, they will head out on the road to face off against South Adams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Adams is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
