Despite the defeat, Cristo Rey St. Martin saw an underclassman step up: Lebron Massey dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Massey hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games.
Cristo Rey St. Martin bumped their record down to 2-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points per game. As for Yeshiva, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Cristo Rey St. Martin will head out on the road to challenge North Shore Country Day at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Yeshiva will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Beacon Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st.
