Basketball Game Preview: Vergennes Commodores vs. Williamstown Blue Devils

The Vergennes Commodores and the Williamstown Blue Devils will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Vergennes earned a 49-39 victory over Fair Haven.

Meanwhile, Williamstown humbled Peoples Academy with an 80-52 victory. The Blue Devils pushed the score to 68-38 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wolves cut but never quite recovered from.

Williamstown's win came from a few key players Vergennes will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Evan Bailey, who went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 25 points along with eight assists and eight boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Alex Clark was another key player, going 7 for 15 on his way to 17 points and six steals.

Williamstown was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

The win got Williamstown back to even at 1-1. As for Vergennes, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
