Volleyball Recap: Zane Trace's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Zane Trace can now relate to. They fell 3-1 to the New Lexington Panthers on Saturday. The Pioneers' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: New Lexington scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 21-25, 25-17, 25-18.

Karlee Snavely paced Zane Trace's offense, picking up 17 kills. Snavely got some help from Lydia Jarrell and her 23 assists. Finally, Kailee Johnson kept Zane Trace's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Gracie Newlon was nothing short of spectacular for New Lexington: she had 19 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Newlon has posted since back in September.

Zane Trace's loss dropped their record down to 19-6. As for New Lexington, they pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Zane Trace does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Lexington, they will take on Wheelersburg at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
