Softball Recap: Bellwood-Antis Falls to Hollidaysburg in First Game of Season

Bellwood-Antis unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers by a score of 12-11 on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Palynn Gregg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered 12 runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Parker Martin was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Petyon McCahan, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

The win got Hollidaysburg back to even at 1-1.

Bellwood-Antis wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Huntingdon on the 19th. As for Hollidaysburg, they will challenge Cambria Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
