Recap: Rio Hondo Prep Kares vs. Western Christian Fighting Lancers
The Rio Hondo Prep Kares scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 65-30 stomp they got on the road against Western Christian. The result was nothing new for Rio Hondo Prep, who have now won five games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Rio Hondo Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Carson led the charge by scoring 16 points along with three steals. Carson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Janna Tafflinger, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Rio Hondo Prep and bumps their season record up to 7-4. As for Western Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Rio Hondo Prep will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Ramona Convent at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Ramona Convent's defense has only allowed 29.8 points per game this season, so Rio Hondo Prep's offense will have their work cut out for Rio Hondo Prep. Western Christian will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Bishop Conaty-Loretto at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bishop Conaty-Loretto has seven straight victories, Western Christian has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
