Basketball Game Preview: Copper Hills Grizzlies vs. Bingham Miners

Copper Hills and Bingham are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Copper Hills Grizzlies will be playing at home against the Bingham Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Bingham will be up against a hot Copper Hills squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Copper Hills claimed a resounding 67-33 win over Riverton. The Grizzlies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season.

Skylie Barker was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aspen Fraser, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Copper Hills was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverton only racked up six assists.

Meanwhile, Bingham humbled Herriman with a 54-18 victory. The game marked the Miners' most dominant victory of the season.

Bingham had a senior duo take command as Addy Horsley posted 17 points along with six boards and four steals and Iman Finau earned six points in addition to eight steals and six rebounds. Finau has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. Raylynn Richardson was another key player, putting up five points and three steals.

Copper Hills pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Bingham, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 11-4.

Copper Hills strolled past Bingham in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 52-38. Will Copper Hills repeat their success, or does Bingham have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
