Basketball Recap: Sequel Hodge's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Land O' Lakes over Wiregrass Ranch

Land O' Lakes lost against Wiregrass Ranch back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Gators fell 62-56 to the Bulls. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Land O' Lakes' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sequel Hodge, who shot 57% from the field on his way to 21 points. Thanks to that strong game, Hodge now owns an excellent 40.6% three-point shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Martinez, who went 5-for-8 en route to 10 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Wiregrass Ranch got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jackson Swedenburg out in front who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. Swedenburg is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ajayden Jenkins, who posted 23 points along with six boards and three steals.

Land O' Lakes now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Land O' Lakes wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 78-61 win against Fivay on the 5th. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 88-67 loss against Jesuit on the 5th.
