Volleyball Recap: Northwest Rankin Falls Despite Big Games from Sadie Tatum and Sophie Tatum

Northwest Rankin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Germantown Mavericks. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mavericks earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Sophie Tatum and Sadie Tatum certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Sophie had 32 assists and 16 digs, while Sadie had 22 digs and three assists. Sadie has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Germantown was led to victory by Embry Claire White and Juliana Shelnutt. White had 24 digs and one assist, while Shelnutt had 22 assists and five digs. Those 24 digs gave White a new career-high.

Northwest Rankin's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Germantown, they pushed their record up to 16-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Northwest Rankin will welcome DeSoto Central at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Germantown, they will venture away from home to square off against Oak Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
