Soccer Game Preview: Lampeter-Strasburg vs. Manheim Township

The Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers will head out on the road to challenge the Manheim Township Blue Streaks at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Lampeter-Strasburg managed to slip by Lancaster Catholic the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Pioneers lost 3-0 to the Crusaders on Tuesday. Lampeter-Strasburg's loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Manheim Township came tearing into Monday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.6 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Panthers. Manheim Township's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Regan Taylor, who's now up to 15 this season.

Manheim Township's victory bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Lampeter-Strasburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4-1.

Lampeter-Strasburg couldn't quite get it done against Manheim Township in their previous matchup back in October of 2021 as they fell 2-0. Can the Pioneers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
