Volleyball Game Preview: Lake Zurich Bears vs. Wheeling Wildcats

After both having extra time off, the Lake Zurich Bears and the Wheeling Wildcats will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Lake Zurich came up short against Stevenson and fell 2-0. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Lake Zurich was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Wheeling was able to grind out a solid victory over Elgin on Wednesday, taking the game 2-0. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Maroons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Wheeling not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Elgin between 16 and 17 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-16.

Wheeling's victory bumped their record up to 24-11. As for Lake Zurich, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-14.

Lake Zurich beat Wheeling 2-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
