Basketball Preview: North Schuylkill Spartans vs. Pottsville Crimson Tide
The North Schuylkill Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Pottsville Crimson Tide at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Schuylkill has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 478 points over their last seven matchups.
Last Friday, North Schuylkill was able to grind out a solid victory over the Olympians, taking the game 64-52. Given North Schuylkill's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Olympians are ranked 657th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Zane Zulkowski, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for eight straight games. Jack Keiter was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, Pottsville's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Blue Mountain by a score of 41-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Pottsville has suffered since December 1, 2023.
North Schuylkill has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Pottsville, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6.
North Schuylkill and the Crimson Tide were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January, but the Spartans came up empty-handed after a 49-48 defeat. Can North Schuylkill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
