Basketball Recap: Firebaugh Takes a Loss

Firebaugh and Chowchilla squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Firebaugh had to settle for second. They came up short against the Chowchilla Tribe, falling 65-41. The Eagles were down 60-25 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Khaled Escheik continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chowchilla, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. What's more, Escheik also posted a 73% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Tristan Beardsley was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 11 points and seven rebounds.

Firebaugh dropped their record down to 10-18 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Chowchilla, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-12.

Firebaugh does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chowchilla, they will challenge Mendota at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chowchilla is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season.
