Baseball Game Preview: Batavia Bulldogs vs. St. Charles East Fighting Saints

For the second straight game, Batavia will face off against St. Charles East. The Bulldogs will head out to take on the Fighting Saints at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Batavia needed a bit of extra time to put away St. Charles East. They had just enough and edged out the Fighting Saints 11-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their two-run performance the match before.

For St. Charles East's part, Joey Arend and Ryan McGrew stepped up to the plate in a big way. Arend went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while McGrew went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double. Arend is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Dylan McCabe was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

St. Charles East has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Batavia, their win bumped their record up to 9-16-1.
