Softball Recap: Fostoria Takes a Loss

Fostoria had lost 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 2-11 to make it 13. They came up short against the Arcadia Redskins, falling 15-2. Surprisingly, this marked the Redmen's fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Fostoria saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arianna Esponosa Snowden, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Those stolen bases marked the first that Esponosa Snowden has snagged this season.

As for Arcadia, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-7. The contest marked their most dominant win of the season.

On Arcadia's side, Alanna Tucker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Tucker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Averie Smarr, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addyson McCartney, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

While Fostoria had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
