Baseball Recap: Campbell Takes a Loss

Campbell extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-16-2 in the process. They lost 17-2 to the Cooper Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 on Tuesday.

Campbell saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drake Sweeney, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Cooper, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Cooper's side, John Ramos made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ramos has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jace Meeks was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Levi Oneal, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Campbell is set to challenge their familiar foe Sulphur Bluff at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cooper will face off against rival Saltillo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
