Football Recap: Rock Academy Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Rock Academy can now relate to. They were dealt a 44-6 defeat at the hands of the Maranatha Christian Eagles on Friday. The Warriors' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Maranatha Christian was led to victory by Ryan Niguidula and Shane Piester. Niguidula rushed for 106 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, while Piester rushed for 46 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 106 rushing yards gave Niguidula a new career-high.

Rock Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Maranatha Christian, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Rock Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maranatha Christian, they will take on Clairemont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
