Cabrini is a perfect 6-0 against Shrine Catholic since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Monarchs will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cabrini has struggled recently with eight losses in a row, while Shrine Catholic will arrive with three straight victories.
Cabrini is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came up short against Parkway Christian on Friday, falling 24-16.
Cabrini got a massive performance out of Raquel Zamarron, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Zamarron also put up two hits, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mae Dmitruchina, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Shrine Catholic got the win against Detroit Cristo Rey on Tuesday by a conclusive 23-8.
The team relied heavily on Kate Zboril, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with six RBI, four runs, and two stolen bases. Zboril is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Singler, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Shrine Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Shrine Catholic pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Cabrini, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cabrini hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. However, it's not like Shrine Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .429. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cabrini took their win against Shrine Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 20-5 score. Do the Monarchs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
