Football Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Calallen + How To Watch

With a playoff win on the line, Calallen rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the El Campo Ricebirds by a score of 27-14. The Wildcats' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Connor Klostermann continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 79 yards and three TDs on only ten carries, while also throwing for 117 yards and one touchdown on only ten passes. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Jimmy Tipton helped out on the ground, rushing for 133 yards.

Despite the loss, El Campo still got an impressive performance from Vladamir Garcia, who rushed for 71 yards and one score.

The win (which was Calallen's fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.8 points on average over those games. As for El Campo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

Coming up, Calallen will face off against Canyon Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Klostermann and Jace Wheeler. El Campo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
