Baseball Recap: Moss Point Comes Up Short

Moss Point extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 8-15. They came up short against the Forrest County Agricultural Aggies, falling 15-3. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Moss Point saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marcus Matthews, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

As for Forrest County Agricultural, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.

On Forrest County Agricultural's side, Abram McQueen and Sean Walker did most of the damage at the plate: McQueen went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Walker went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave McQueen a new career-high. Kason Walker was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

While Moss Point had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
