Recap: Victory Christian Academy Eagles vs. Brooklane Baptist Eagles
Even though the Brooklane Baptist Eagles scored an imposing 67 points on Friday, the Victory Christian Academy Eagles still came out on top. Victory Christian Academy escaped with a win against Brooklane Baptist by the margin of a single free throw, 68-67. The victory was all the more spectacular given Victory Christian Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while Brooklane Baptist is ranked 112th).
It was another big night for Chase Myrick, who scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Bowman, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Victory Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Brooklane Baptist, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Victory Christian Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Glen Iris Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. After both having extra time off, Brooklane Baptist and Huntsville Christian Academy will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Huntsville Christian Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
