Basketball Recap: Battle Mountain Comes Up Short

It was fun while it lasted, but Battle Mountain's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Tuesday. They were outmatched by the Lowry Buckaroos and fell 57-17. The loss put an end to the Longhorns' undefeated start to the season.

Despite the loss, Battle Mountain saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Paitynn Johns posted four points and eight rebounds. Johns is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Noel Hill, who had nine points and five rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Battle Mountain fell to 7-1. As for Lowry, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Battle Mountain and North Tahoe will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lowry will take on Burns in a holiday battle at at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
