Football Recap: Brock Sullivan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Goddard over Salina Central + How To Watch

Goddard entered their contest against Salina Central on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lions took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. The Lions lost against the Mustangs in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 52-24 score last time.

Goddard lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brock Sullivan, who rushed for 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 208 yards and two TDs. A healthy portion of that aerial production (135 yards to be exact) went to Bryer Rojas, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

It was another big night for Cooper Reves, who rushed for 244 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.9 yards per carry for Salina Central. That's the most rushing yards Reves has posted since back in October of 2024. Griffin Hall was another key player, rushing for 82 yards and one touchdown.

Goddard's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Salina Central, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Goddard didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 27-24 victory against Maize South on the 30th. As for Salina Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will be up against the Chargers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 52.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
