Basketball Game Preview: Gaston Christian Eagles vs. Cannon Cougars + How To Watch

Two dominant guards in Cameron Newman and DJ Rogers are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Gaston Christian Eagles will jump right back in to play the Cannon Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Gaston Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Gaston Christian's tournament run continued when they took on Fort Mill on Friday. The Eagles took down the Yellow Jackets 74-60.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cannon). They blew past Statesville 84-51 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Cannon's win came from a few key players Gaston Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tommy Underwood II, who shot 63% from the field en route to 10 points and four steals. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Braylen Weaks was another key player, putting up ten points.

Cannon was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Gaston Christian's record now sits at 10-0. As for Cannon, their record is now 2-4.

Gaston Christian beat Cannon 69-62 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
