Basketball Recap: Braxton Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Covington Academy over Hearts Academy

Covington Academy was the 45-39 winner over Hearts Academy when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs fell 69-60 to the Panthers on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (59), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

Covington Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braxton Smith, who posted 15 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Williams, who put up 18 points and five boards.

Covington Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Hearts Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Covington Academy has already played their next game, a 55-25 win against Holy Ground Baptist Academy on the 5th. As for Hearts Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 71-38 victory against Covenant Christian School on the 5th.
