Volleyball Recap: Gaston Christian Comes Up Short

Gaston Christian was the 3-1 winner over Metrolina Christian Academy when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Gaston Christian took Metrolina Christian Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-17, 24-26, 25-15, 15-9.

Piper Riley paced Gaston Christian's offense, picking up 11 kills. Riley got some help from Peyton Hunsucker and her 22 assists. Madelyn Pierce controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Gaston Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.

As of now, neither Gaston Christian nor Metrolina Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
