Softball Game Preview: Springboro Panthers vs. Northmont Thunderbolts

For the second straight game, Springboro will face off against Northmont. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Thunderbolts at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Springboro knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Northmont likes a good challenge.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Springboro and Northmont meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Panthers walked away with a 13-9 victory over the Thunderbolts.

Aysia Davis was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Miller, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Springboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Northmont moved to 11-7 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Springboro, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.

Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Springboro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. However, it's not like Northmont struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
