In other batting news, Carson Hanks was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Anthony Alaniz, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Open Bible Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on March 3rd. They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over Hope Christian Academy on Friday.
Like Georgia Christian, Open Bible Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Campbell Avant. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Avant was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Open Bible Christian let Zeke Mindziak and Mitchell Parnell run wild. Mindziak scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Parnell went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Parnell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy DeDios, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
The win made it two in a row for Georgia Christian and bumps their season record up to 8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Open Bible Christian, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Everything went Georgia Christian's way against Open Bible Christian in their previous matchup on March 3rd, as Georgia Christian made off with an 18-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Georgia Christian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
