Football Game Preview: Weaver Beavers vs. Ellington Knights

Two dominant signal callers in Kadain Claflin-Coy and Aaron Ladr are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Weaver Beavers will be playing at home against the Ellington Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Weaver is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Weaver proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 34) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy] 28-26.

Weaver found their leader in freshman Jameire Haughton, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Haughton also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble, making four total tackles, and defending two passes. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Booth, who gained 155 total yards and a touchdown.

Weaver was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 265 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Ellington humbled Capital Prep/Achievement First with a 53-6 victory. Considering the Knights have won five contests by more than 29 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ellington's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Weaver, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
