Soccer Game Preview: Sierra Vista vs. Palo Verde

Sierra Vista is 0-4 against Palo Verde since August of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Mountain Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m.

Sierra Vista is headed into Monday's contest following a draw, the team's first since August 27. They and Las Vegas finished up their matchup with a 1-1 draw on Wednesday. The outcome might've been different if Phoenix Rincon hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

Sierra Vista's goal came courtesy of Alex Campbell, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, Palo Verde faced Arbor View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Panthers beat the Aggies by a goal, winning 2-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since September 4, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Sierra Vista's draw makes their record 6-11-3 this season. As for Palo Verde, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3-3.

Sierra Vista couldn't quite get it done against Palo Verde in their previous meeting back in September as they fell 3-1. Can the Mountain Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
