Softball Game Preview: J.I. Burton Raiders vs. Central Wise Warriors

The J.I. Burton Raiders will face off against the Central Wise Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. J.I. Burton comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

J.I. Burton managed to slip by Twin Springs the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Raiders lost 10-0 to the Titans on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Central Wise posted their closest victory since March 20th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Lee 9-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Kaelyn Dales made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up eight earned runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in June of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Central Wise got a massive performance out of Sophia Fleming, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Fleming a new career-high. Chloe Wells was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Central Wise was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee only posted a batting average of .259.

Central Wise's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for J.I. Burton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
