Recap: Doniphan West Mustangs vs. Onaga Buffaloes
The Doniphan West Mustangs can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They took down Onaga 50-33. The win was just what Doniphan West needed coming off of a 62-28 defeat in their prior matchup.
Despite the defeat, Onaga saw an underclassman step up: Casen Hutfles almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hutfles has scored all season. Rayce Fisher was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Doniphan West's victory ended a 16-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-12. As for Onaga, they dropped their record down to 1-14 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Doniphan West will challenge Centralia on Monday. Doniphan West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 297th, while Centralia is ranked 75th). As for Onaga, they will head out on the road to square off against Clifton-Clyde at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clifton-Clyde will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Onaga surely won't give up without a fight.
