Baseball Game Preview: Stevenson Patriots vs. Farragut Admirals

The Stevenson Patriots will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Farragut Admirals at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Stevenson will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Thursday, Stevenson was able to grind out a solid win over Glenbrook South, taking the game 7-4.

Yuni Hamideh looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kosuke Sakamoto, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Martin, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Stevenson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Farragut unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against Chicago Washington, falling 8-1. The matchup marked the Admirals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Julian Andrade made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Farragut's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Stevenson, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Stevenson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Farragut struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts.
