Baseball Recap: West Orange's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

West Orange fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Timber Creek on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Timber Creek Wolves by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered since April 30, 2024.

West Orange got a good showing from Lukas Stirewalt, who struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Stirewalt has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Miguel Acosta made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Angel Martinez was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

West Orange's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Timber Creek, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, West Orange will venture away from home to challenge Cypress Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Orange's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Cypress Creek's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Timber Creek, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Apopka at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Apopka: 2.8, Timber Creek: 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
