Basketball Recap: Orthopaedic Extends Winning Streak to Four

Orthopaedic had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They managed a 47-43 victory over the Downtown Magnets Suns. This was a revenge game for the Vipers: when they faced off against the Suns back in December of 2024, they had to take a 56-38 loss.

Despite the defeat, Downtown Magnets saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Patrick Lei went 8 of 20 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Lei has posted since back in January of 2024. Jacob Agustin was another key player, putting up six points.

Orthopaedic has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Downtown Magnets, with the loss, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orthopaedic will host Aspire Ollin at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Downtown Magnets, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against USC-MAE at 2:30 p.m.
