Gretna had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 50-40 win over the Elkhorn Antlers on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Dragons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gretna was led to victory by Ava McArtor and Megan Marshall. McArtor posted 15 points along with six rebounds and three blocks, while Marshall earned 15 points and five boards. That's the most points Marshall has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maggie Miller, who scored three points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Despite the defeat, Elkhorn saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brooklyn Wragge had 17 points. Emmy Hart was another key player, putting up eight points.

Gretna has already played their next contest, a 49-31 victory against Douglas County West on the 6th. As for Elkhorn, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-38 loss against Waverly on the 6th.
