Millard South and Lincoln East are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Patriots will take on the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Millard South 3.6, Lincoln East 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Millard South is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Millard West 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.
Millard South got a great performance from Noah Carroll as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Carroll has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Millard South saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxson Appuhn, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Appuhn has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, Lincoln East had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. They never let the Monarchs get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 15 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Troy Peltz was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Millard South's record now sits at 24-10. As for Lincoln East, their record is now 30-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Millard South has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Lincoln East struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Millard South might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from Lincoln East when the teams last played back in April. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
