Volleyball Game Preview: Waunakee Warriors vs. Kimberly Papermakers

The Waunakee Warriors will face off against the Kimberly Papermakers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Waunakee sitting on four straight victories and Kimberly on five.

Waunakee is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Holmen 3-0.

Waunakee can attribute much of their success to Amy Denkert, who had 12 assists and seven digs, and Kendall Scadden, who had 13 digs and three assists. Denkert is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 16 games she's played.

Meanwhile, Kimberly made easy work of West De Pere on Saturday and carried off a 3-0 win.

Kimberly not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept West De Pere between 19 and 21 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-21, 25-19.

Kimberly's victory bumped their record up to 31-13. As for Waunakee, their win bumped their record up to 40-8.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Waunakee has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Kimberly struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Waunakee beat Kimberly 2-0 in their previous meeting back in September. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Papermakers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
