Softball Recap: Taos' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Taos had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with an 18-14 victory over the Mora Rangers/Rangerettes on Friday. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Celina Shropshire, who fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one triple while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaya Struck, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Taos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .607. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .464 that Mora posted.

Taos' win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Mora, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.

We've got a battle between Tigers coming up. Taos' pitchers better be ready for this one: Raton has averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Mora, they will square off against Santa Rosa at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
