Basketball Game Preview: Flanagan Falcons vs. Miramar Patriots

Flanagan hasn't had much luck against Miramar recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Flanagan Falcons will take on the Miramar Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Flanagan is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They fell 59-47 to Everglades. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 435th, while the Gators are ranked 210th).

Meanwhile, Miramar came up short against North Tampa Christian Academy on Monday and fell 54-42.

Flanagan will need focus on slowing down Martell Smith, one of several Miramar players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Siah Blot, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

Miramar's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Flanagan, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Flanagan took their win against Miramar when the teams last played back in January of 2022 by a conclusive 66-41. Will Flanagan repeat their success, or does Miramar have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
