Basketball Recap: Hillsdale Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Hillsdale FIGHTING KNIGHTS were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-47 to the Elk Grove Thundering Herd. While losing is never fun, the FIGHTING KNIGHTS can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 573rd, while the Thundering Herd are ranked 122nd).

Elk Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aidan Robinson led the charge by putting up ten points in addition to six assists and six boards. Another player making a difference was Danny Dennaoui, who shot 4-for-5 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Hillsdale has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Elk Grove, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Hillsdale will take on Foothill at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Elk Grove, they will square off against Laguna Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Elk Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season.
