Basketball Recap: Morristown Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Triton Central, Morristown was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They secured a 46-41 W over the North Decatur Chargers. The win was all the more spectacular given the Yellow Jackets' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Chargers are ranked 110th).

Morristown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayla Keithley led the charge by putting up six points in addition to eight boards and six assists. The dominant performance also gave Keithley a new career-high in blocks (six). Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Sanders, who posted 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Morristown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, North Decatur still got an impressive performance from Madi Allen, who went 11 of 18 en route to 26 points. That was a full 63.4% of North Decatur's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Haley, who scored eight points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Morristown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.6 points. As for North Decatur, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

It'll be a Battle of the Bugs the Morristown Yellow Jackets duke it out with the Beech Grove Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Decatur, they are taking a road trip to square off against Southwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Decatur is facing Southwestern at the right time seeing as Southwestern is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
