Volleyball Recap: Archbishop McCarthy Comes Up Short

Archbishop McCarthy lost against Cypress Bay last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cypress Bay Lightning.

While Archbishop McCarthy was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-14.

Nick Castillo paced Archbishop McCarthy's offense, picking up five kills. Castillo got some help from Josef Pfeiffer and his seven assists. Finally, Castillo was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Archbishop McCarthy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. Cypress Bay's victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Archbishop McCarthy has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Belen Jesuit on the 15th. As for Cypress Bay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Seminole Ridge on the 15th.
