Softball Game Preview: Saint James Saints vs. St. Andrew's Episcopal Lions

The Saint James Saints will take on the St. Andrew's Episcopal Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Saint James' favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while St. Andrew's Episcopal has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Saint James' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over National Cathedral. Considering the Saints have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lily Schlotterbeck ?26 made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Everett Sechler ?26, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Tenley Mullendore ?27 was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, St. Andrew's Episcopal fell victim to Potomac School and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 18-0 to the Panthers. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Lions' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

St. Andrew's Episcopal's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Saint James, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
