Basketball Recap: Crist Rigotti and Carson Verlander Secure Win for Mercy Prep Academy

Mercy Prep Academy waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took down the Providence Academy Lions 60-46. The Royals have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Leading Mercy Prep Academy to victory were Carson Verlander and Crist Rigotti. Verlander posted 25 points and five steals, while Rigotti scored 18 points along with five boards and four steals. With that strong performance, Rigotti is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradley Lewis, who earned no points in addition to six assists, six rebounds, and four steals.

Mercy Prep Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Mercy Prep Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Providence Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Mercy Prep Academy will head out on the road to square off against UME Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Providence Academy, they will host Lucas Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
