An exciting North v. South battle is about to be fought. The South Spartans will take on the North Saxons at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
West hit South with a four-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors.
Sofia Ayabarreno made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brynn Stallings, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, North got themselves on the board against Carson on Tuesday, but Carson never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Colts. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saxons.
The result came thanks to Kloie Iboy's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Corina Alvillar was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Imani Covarrubio, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
North hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.
North's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for South, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like North struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against North by a conclusive 14-5 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Saxons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
